Arnhem, Netherlands

Arnhem, The Netherlands
May 18th-May 22nd
Time off!!!!
Marc, Corrine, Kyra, Senne, Moris
5-19-19 Sunday
Host Family Day!!! I spent the whole day with Kyra's family. I finally got to sleep in and it felt amazing.  Then we went to Het Openluchtmuseum. This was a museum that was outside and it showcased the evolution of technology in The Netherlands. There were old machines, houses and windmills. I got to shoot an arrow from archery and and ride a unicycle. Then we ate little powdered pancakes called poffertjes with the whole family. They have really invited me into their lives, and I feel really special when I get to spend the day with them. Kyra's dad bought me my own pack of Stroopwaffels because he knows how much I love them. It warmed my heart. We got home and played games with Moris... he loves games. Kyra and I went out for drinks in the city of Arnhem at night. It was really nice to catch up with her and just talk about life. I am so grateful to be here with her family again! They have really done so much for me in this past year.

5-20-19 Monday
I woke up pretty early to go to school with Kyra in the morning. We took trains and busses everywhere we went. I haven't had to do that a lot this semester, and it brought back memories from last semester in Sweden, France, and The Netherlands. I can't say that I miss trains all that much. I had some quiet time for three hours in the library while she went to class. Then, we walked around in the city of her school. It had many cute shops and cafes. We ate lunch and looked around for a while. I went home and took a two hour nap. I am finally catching up on sleep, and it feels wonderful. We started watching a series on Netflix about a serial killer. Then we went out for Sushi at the same restaurant that we went to when I was here in December. I had salmon, California rolls, shrimp, and zucchini!! YUMMYY!! I pointed out the fact many young girls in Europe wear jeans and white sneakers. I call them Kiwi's. We watched Now You See Me at night.

5-21-19 Tuesday
Today Kyra and I went to Amsterdam. Bo meet up with us and showed us some cool spots in the city. We all went to camp together B16 and B17, and now we are reunited. It was surreal that I was in the middle of The Netherlands visiting them two years later. Camp really does create lasting friendships. We got lunch all together and talked about how our lives have changed. We went to the Red Light District, China Town and vintage thrift stores. Bo brought us to her house that was in the middle of the city. It was really cool to see where she lived and learn about her life. Her house is on the canal. We had to leave so we could catch the train. It was a really great day, and I was happy to spend some time with Bo in her hometown. We got home and ate dinner with her mom, watched another episode, packed and drank tea. I have to leave for Germany tomorrow morning. I am so happy that I got to take time off and spend more time with Kyra. I also feel so rested and I am ready for the last 14 days of my entire UWP experience.
